George Kranitis – Owner / Community Connector
George is an Australian citizen who has been residing in Ottawa, Canada for the past six years and just recently moved back to his home town of Albion Park in the Illawarra region, where he grew up. For over five of the six years, he worked at LiveWorkPlay, a person-centred and progressive support service for people with intellectual disabilities. It was through this opportunity that George discovered his passion for working with this population and decided to dedicate his life to helping the community welcome people with intellectual disabilities as valued and contributing citizens.
During his time at LiveWorkPlay, George has gained extensive and valuable experience working with people with intellectual disabilities in his roles as a Community Connector, Support Coordinator and Team Lead. But more importantly, George became aware of, expertly trained in and embraced how essential adopting a person-centred approach is when working with this population to help them achieve their goals of living a full and good life of their choosing. George takes pride in utilising his vast experience with adopting a person-centred approach coupled with his natural ability of building relationships and networks for the benefit of the people he works with to have the opportunity to succeed and achieve their goals.
In addition to his Masters of Social Development (UNSW) and Bachelor of Science, Major in Population Health (UOW) degrees, relevant qualifications and experience George possesses includes First Aid and CPR training, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) training, Mental Health training, and training in Reflective Listening.
George is grateful for the opportunity to be moving back to the Illawarra with his partner Véronique to give back and contribute to the region he grew up in and more importantly to help create opportunities for the community to welcome people with intellectual disabilities as valued and contributing members.
